PANalytical makes scientific instruments that use X-rays to analyse metals, crystals and liquids, and to check the quality of alloys, medicines and chips.
In a team of two developers, two product specialists and a project manager, I extended, migrated and improved an existing .NET 2.0 application to .NET 3.0. The quick delivery and successful rollout led to a larger project to simplify the software and improve the customer’s process. For that project I wrote the project plan, gathered the customer requirements and created the new architectural design.
Key challenges
- The existing product no longer met the customer's requirements, and the new version was needed within a short timeframe.
Architecture highlights
- Project plan, customer requirements and a new architectural design that formed the basis of the follow-up project.
